SHOW ME THE MONEYOn Friday,November 7, 2003 the Bush administration crowed about the falling unemployment rate. On the same date the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the city of Pittsburg was about to declare bankruptcy. The city's bond rating is 'junk'. On November 6th, it was reported that the city of Baltimore Zoo had to rent out its animals because it had no money to continue. Two weeks earlier it was reported that the Pennsyvlvania school system did not have money to pay its bills, and might have to shut down.
The state of NJ is 5 billion dollars in debt. The state of California is 20 billion dollars in debt. The list goes on and on.
The President has an arrogance, a smugness that goes beyond the pale. Does he truly think we buy the propaganda? We see the factories going offshore, we see the bakruptcy rate for homes, we talk to each other.
Isn't it nice that Mr. Bush has seen the unemployment rate drop by a few thousand? Golly gee whiz, that's cause for celebration.
