America's media has been kidnapped by a very few companies such as Clear Channel, and Infinity Radio. When the Dixie Chicks protested the war, their music was banned, not by one or two radio stations, but by a chain of stations numbering in the hundreds. The FCC relaxed its rules some years ago, allowing mass ownership. That is great for wealthy owners, it is not so wonderful for Joe six-pack. Now, Michael Powell, head of the FCC, and son of the Secretary of State, wants to relax the ownership rules even more.
Disney owns ABC. Have you heard any liberal talk hosts on ABC? The answer is NO, and you will not be hearing any liberals on the Eisner dominated media giant. Pray that Comcast takes them over.
Plans for a huge liberal network have fallen through, for now. It would be wise for those with the resources to put those plans back on track. Radio is not a dead and/or dying medium. Talk radio is alive and well and conservative. G. Gordon Liddy, a convicted felon, Ollie North, a man who lied to Congress, Rush Limbaugh, a hypocritical drug addict and Sean Hannity, a man who wouldn't recognize the truth if it bit him, are the darlings of the airwaves.
Will someone please wake the wealthy Democrats up before it is over. Jan 2004On the Media
